Rocks and Minerals are some of those things that you find everywhere, from Glaciers to deserts. There are many kinds of Rocks and Minerals in this world, but the three main types of rocks are:
-igneous
-metamorphic
sedimentary
Igneous rocks are rocks that are made from volcanoes. The lava dries up to form igneous rocks, so these rocks are known as rocks like basalt (in the black desert) and many other black rock kinds (they are black most of the time). They can vary in weight, because there are igneous that landed in water, and are therefore very light, but there are also the many kinds (like granite) that are very hard, and are cooled over a long period of time.
Sedimentary rocks are rocks that are formed when lots of layers of little pieces of stones and sand are staked up, and so because of all the pressure, they form into rocks.
metamorphic rocks are a type of rock that is melted and formed into another rock, and so the whole thing turns into a cycle. It never really starts anywhere, but lets say that first a volcano erupts, its an Igneous rock, then it is layers and pressured to be a sedimentary rock, and when that is far enough in the ground, it is melted, and so it becomes a metamorphic rock.
This is what we learned about rocks, and what i will be putting labs about on this page.
